kurma

31 Aug

tahukah anda kenapa kurma xpernah dihurungi semut bile kita just letak die kt luar tanpa susah2 nk simpan dlm peti? hmm ni xsure la just dgr org cerita. kurma mengandungi kandungan gula kompleks yang tidak boleh di digest oleh semut, maka semut pon xmakan la kurma tu..if xdpt digest, nnt diorg mati la sbb proses perkumuhan xdpt dijalankan..setiap benda hidup akan berkumuh (blaja sains x anda2 semua?)..so time sahur sgt elok makan kurma ni sbb kandungan gula kompleksnya menyebabkan kita tahan lapar satu hari..gula kompleks ni lambat dicerna dalam badan jadi kita akn ade byk tenaga sepanjang hari..oleh itu, marilah memanfaatkan khasiat kurma di bulan ramadhan ni yeh..slamat berpuasa semua!

24 Aug

so seems like i havent been writing about this for a long time havent i? hehe sorry for forgetting about this..but i dont really have any good info for you..just this one..according to this email i got, “the human body was never meant to consume rice! You see, our genes have hardly changed in more than 30,000 years. However, our food choices and lifestyle have changed dramatically. The caveman would hardly recognise our food or way of life.

Caveman food was never cooked as fire was not yet tamed. Thus, he ate only those foods that you can eat without treatment with or by fire.. He ate fruits, vegetables, fish (sushi anyone?), eggs, nuts and meat. Yes, even meat! You can even eat meat raw if you were starving in the forest. You have the necessary enzymes to digest meat.

However, rice, like wheat and corn, cannot be eaten raw. It must be cooked. Even if you were starving in the desert, you cannot eat rice in the raw form. This is because we do not have the system of enzymes to break rice down. You were never meant to eat rice. To make matters worse, you not only eat rice, but also make it the bulk of your food…

In some parts of Asia , rice forms up to 85% of the plate. Even if you take rice, keep it to a minimum. Remember, it is only for your tongue – not your body. Actually, rice and other grains like wheat and corn are actually worse than sugar. There are many reasons:

Rice becomes sugar – lots of it!

This is a fact that no nutritionist can deny: rice is chemically no different from sugar. One bowl of cooked rice is the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. This does not matter whether it is white, brown or herbal rice. Brown rice is richer in fibre, some B vitamins and minerals but it is still the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. To get the same 10 teaspoons of sugar, you need to consume lots of kangkong-10 bowls of it.

Rice is digested to become sugar.

Rice cannot be digested before it is thoroughly cooked. However, when thoroughly cooked, it becomes sugar and spikes circulating blood sugar within half an hour-almost as quickly as it would if you took a sugar candy. Rice is very low in the ‘rainbow of anti-oxidants. ‘

This complete anti-oxidant rainbow is necessary for the effective and safe utilisation of sugar. Fruits come with a sugar called fructose. However, they are not empty calories as the fruit is packed with a whole host of other nutrients that help its proper assimilation and digestion.

Rice has no fibre.

The fibre of the kangkong fills you up long before your blood sugar spikes. This is because the fibre bulks and fills up your stomach. Since white rice has no fibre, you end up eating lots of ‘calorie dense’ food before you get filled up. Brown rice has more fibre but still the same amount of sugar.

Rice is tasteless-sugar is sweet.

There is only so much that you can eat at one sitting. How many teaspoons of sugar can you eat before you feel like throwing up? Could you imagine eating 10 teaspoons of sugar in one seating?

Rice is always the main part of the meal.

While sugar may fill your dessert or sweeten your coffee, it will never be the main part of any meal. You could eat maybe two to three teaspoons of sugar at one meal. However, you could easily eat the equal value of two to three bowls (20-30 teaspoons) of sugar in one meal. I am always amused when I see someone eat sometimes five bowls of rice (equals 50 teaspoons of sugar) and then asks for tea tarik kurang manis!

There is no real ‘built in’ mechanism for us to prevent overeating of rice:

How much kangkong can you eat?

How much fried chicken can you eat?

How much steamed fish can you eat?

Think about that!

In one seating, you cannot take lots of chicken, fish or cucumber, but you can take lots of rice. Eating rice causes you to eat more salt. As rice is tasteless, you tend to consume more salt-another villain when it comes to high blood pressure. You tend to take more curry that has salt to help flavor rice. We also tend to consume more ketchup and soy sauce which are also rich in salt.

Eating rice causes you to drink less water.

The more rice you eat, the less water you will drink as there is no mechanism to prevent the overeating of rice. Rice, wheat and corn come hidden in our daily food. As rice is tasteless, it tends to end up in other foods that substitute rice like rice flour, noodles and bread. We tend to eat the hidden forms which still get digested into sugar.

Rice, even when cooked, is difficult to digest.

Can’t eat raw rice? Try eating rice half cooked. Contrary to popular belief, rice is very difficult to digest. It is ‘heavy stuff’. If you have problems with digestion, try skipping

rice for a few days. You will be amazed at how the problem will just go away.

Rice prevents the absorption of several vitamins and minerals.

Rice when taken in bulk will reduce the absorption of vital nutrients like zinc, iron and the B vitamins.

Are you a rice addict? Going rice-less may not be easy but you can go rice-less. Eating less rice could be lot easier than you think. Here are some strategies that you can pursue in your quest to eat less rice:

Eat less rice-cut your rice by half.

Barry Sears, author of the Zone Diet, advises ‘eating rice like spice’. Instead, increase your fruits and vegetables. Take more lean meats and fish. You can even take more eggs and nuts.

Have ‘riceless’ meals.

Take no rice or wheat at say, breakfast. Go for eggs instead.

Go on ‘riceless’ days.

Go ‘western’ once a week.

Take no rice and breads for one day every week.

That can’t be too difficult. Appreciate the richness of your food. Go for taste, colours and smells. Make eating a culinary delight. Enjoy your food in the original flavours.

Avoid the salt shaker or ketchup.

You will automatically eat less rice.

Eat your fruit dessert before (Yes! No printing error) your meals.

The fibre rich fruits will ‘bulk up’ in your stomach. Thus, you will eat less rice and more fruits..

It’s your life. Decide what you want to eat! But eat less rice!”

so choose whether eat or not to eat. The article didnt say that you cant eat rice, but eat LESS rice..so dont suddenly stop eating rice. Lets your mind think about it not your belly! 😉 in this holy month Ramadhan, it is the time you  watch what you eat.

sometimes..

24 Aug

sometimes, i  wish all of this was just a dream and when i woke up, i would still be on a bed in a room in stackwyck. upon waking up, checking my inbox, the email i got was not there and  it was just another long night with bad dreams.

but when i wake up the next morning, it is actually the other way around.

sometimes, i just wish i had some memory loss and forgot all the pain i got 2 years ago (still suffering from it now) and just be my old self.

BUT not knowing the friends i have known for 2 years or feeling what ive been through all this while, it would be a great loss because these experiences has taught me so many things about both sides, even it hurts when you compared it to your pasts. you might not understand this entry but doesnt matter..

sometimes, i just feel like i could turn back time..

some pain can be healed, but i dont think mine could be. no wonder i didnt have to do anything after coming back coz they knew, this memory would already be a great impact to me..

crazyyyyy!

16 Aug

aaaaaaa!! if u hear me right, i just spent more than half a thousand ringgit on a pair of earphones! for a moment i felt that i was the most craziest person on earth! but after a while, i think im just as ‘normal’ as other gadget freaks who concern more on the quality rather than the price..heh, luckily ade duit mara then bru dpt bli..anyway last year during the pc fair, the price was below than half a thousand and even the best model we have in malaysia is still below a thousand..but what ive seen today shocked me..after some monologue with my crazy mind, i still wanted to buy them even it is quite pricey yet i didnt bring enough cash at tha time.. then thinking again~~and finally asked the promoter..aahh! fortunately they can accept debit card so i didnt miss buying those favorite earphones for the 2nd time… 😀

so all in all,  we got free parking at pavillion for spending more than rm100 on a single receipt..haha! 😛

i know..thats a lot of money spent on a pair of earphones that i just use mostly on running…huhuhu but who cares..its my money…now i have to think how to cover back that money..ahah! working part time again for next year’s 3 months break! 😉

midterm

15 Aug

instead of studying my ass off to so many exams after the break, im taking some time to update this blog..yea im having midterm break right now..heavenly doing nothing academic ever since uniten was closed 2 days earlier of its scheduled midterm break…hmm i should have been working but with the reason of  would like to study for the exams, i passed it..just went to gsc ou to watch the proposal and the taking of pelham 123..both stories were great but the  so not great thing was i  watched alone..i know ive been telling everybody i love watching alone..but then that is when i was single but now having my significant other, i love watching movies with him..(because he always pays the tickets…haha no lah..not because of that.. 😛  its because later after the movie, i could talk about the stories we watch from our views and of course i’ll do the talking more 😛 ) anyway, meeting my friends back in gsc was quite fun even though there’s quite some new staffs that i dont know..well, actually i just miss serving those customers even though some of them behave like idiots and selfish..

ok so that was last friday..i stayed at my aunt’s until sunday coz i had school gathering on saturday which was fun as usual with some gossips and updates about each of us 😉  then went back home to temerloh on monday until thursday..as usual, being lazy at home, surfing the net, watching my fav tv series, and oh, i finally managed to qada’ my missed fasting days with some support of my mom..hehe who doesnt want to eat our own mom’s cookings upon break fasting right?? 😉

then later on thursday i went to jb for pc fair the next day..wanted to find the very wanted thing on my wishlist which is  shure earphones..but then i came out with other things fromthe pc fair- new maxis broadband contract with cheaper price for monthly fee, 2 8gb pendrives for my youngest bro and my mom each, plus the keyboard cleaner..wanted to buy external drive but it is not as important as my shure earphones so i didnt bother to find it at the pc fair…hmm but all in all i was quite sad i didnt find the earphones there yet later i decided to just get it at pavillion..and of course with the help of him…ye la who else i wanna go with to pavillion kn? thanks a lot my dear 😉

as for today, i am already in uniten, trying out my new broadband ( the old one has been terminated with penalty RM60+bill because i didnt return the whole package to the center) and seems like i cant get my finger off the keyboard writing this new entry…and also cant get myself off the pc to study..hahaha..cane la nk jwb exam ni nnt kan…adoi~
